Discover JK Aero 3D - Drone & Courses

The DJI Avata 2 is a "cinewhoop" FPV (First-Person View) drone designed for immersive, close-quarters flying. It bridges the gap between traditional camera drones and high-speed racing drones, making it a favorite for dynamic indoor and outdoor videography.

Pros

  • Enhanced Safety: The built-in propeller guards make it resilient to minor bumps against walls or branches, allowing for safer indoor or tight-space flight.
  • Superior Visuals: Features a larger 1/1.3-inch sensor compared to the original Avata, capturing high-quality 4K/60fps HDR video with better low-light performance.
  • Turtle Mode: If the drone crashes and lands upside down, it can automatically flip itself back over to take off again.
  • Ample Storage: Includes 46GB of internal storage, which can save approximately 90 minutes of 1080p footage

Cons

  • Fixed Single-Axis Gimbal: The camera only tilts up and down; it cannot compensate for the drone's banking and rolling during turns like a Mavic or Matrice can. Stabilization (RockSteady/HorizonSteady) is entirely digital.
  • Speed Cap: While agile, it tops out at 27 m/s (approx. 60 mph) in manual mode, making it slower than custom-built 5-inch racing drones which can exceed 100 mph.
  • Limited Sensors: It only has downward and backward visual sensors; it lacks the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance found in newer enterprise drones.
  • Geofencing & Software: As with most DJI products, it is subject to strict No-Fly Zone restrictions and GPS-based software locks that can be frustrating in some professional environments.
