DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral

The DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral (M3M) is a compact, portable enterprise drone engineered for precision agriculture and environmental monitoring. It features an integrated imaging system that simultaneously captures high-definition RGB video and multispectral data, providing a comprehensive "health check" for crops and ecosystems.

Pros

  • 20MP RGB Camera: A high-speed 4/3 CMOS sensor with a mechanical shutter captures crystal-clear survey-grade maps and high-resolution visual inspections.
  • Multispectral Array: Four separate 5MP sensors (Green, Red, Red Edge, and Near-Infrared) capture light reflections from plants. This data is used to calculate vegetation indices (like NDVI), which pinpoint areas of stress, disease, or nutrient deficiency.
  • RTK Precision: With its built-in RTK module, the M3M provides centimeter-level positioning accuracy, ensuring that every data point is perfectly georeferenced for year-over-year comparisons.

Cons

  • Software Requirements: Raw multispectral data isn't useful on its own; it requires specialized photogrammetry software like DJI Terra or Pix4D to process into vegetation index maps (NDVI/NDRE).
  • No Telephoto Lens: To make room for the four multispectral sensors, DJI removed the telephoto/zoom lens
  • No IP Rating: Unlike higher-end enterprise models, the Mavic 3M is not waterproof or dust proof.
